1942年4月27日，加拿大舉行了關於徵兵的全民公投。[1]這次公投是為了回應保守黨遊說總理威廉·萊昂·麥肯齊·金（時任自由黨黨魁）使海外服兵役合法化。政府此前曾在1940年承諾不徵兵。[2]公投結果是66%的人投票贊成。[2]魁北克省是唯一多數人投票反對的省份。魁北克省絕大多數人在公投中投反對票。這促使總理不再考慮全面徵兵，直到後來的事件促使他改變了立場。
