Fiji mendirikan Misi Permanennya untuk Perserikatan Bangsa-Bangsa pada 13 Oktober 1970, tiga hari setelah meraih kemerdekaannya dari Britania Raya. Sejak itu, keterlibatan Fiji dalam PBB telah banyak dikenal atas peran aktifnya dalam operasi-operasi penjagaan keamanan PBB, yang dimulai pada 1978.[1]
