Temples of Icen ilmestyessä Venomin suosio oli ollut jo pitkään laskussa.[2] Laulaja-basisti Tony ”Demolition Man” Dolan oli tyytymätön albumin kansikuvaan ja tuotantoon ja koki hyvää kappalemateriaalia menneen sen vuoksi hukkaan.[3] Rock Hardin aikalaisarvostelussa albumia kuvailtiin ammattitaitoiseksi ja kohtuullisen onnistuneeksi muttei kuitenkaan niin hyväksi, että se kykenisi pitämään yhtyeen kulttisuosiota yllä tai tyydyttämään vanhojen fanien nostalgiaa.[2] Metal Express Radion kriitikko Lior Stein kuvaili Temples of Icea vuonna 2008 julkaistussa arvostelussa ”ihan hyväksi”.[4]
