NGC 6217 galaxia espiral bat da, Ursa Minor konstelazioan[1]. William Herschelek aurkitu zuen 1797ko abenduaren 12an[2]. 67 milioi argi-urte distantziara dago[3], 10 cm-ko teleskopio batekin (4 hazbete) edo Zeta Ursae Minorisetik ipar-ekialdera 11tik 2,5 º-ra bitarteko magnitudeko objektu batekin lokaliza daitekeena[4]. Izar berriak sortzen dituen galaxia bat bezala karakterizatu da, eta horrek esan nahi du izar eraketa tasa altua jasaten ari dela galaxia tipiko batekin alderatuta[5].
